Video: The Lion Whisperer

This is one of those videos where you have to see it to believe it. The GoPro production crew journeyed to Africa to explore the danger and beauty of Kevin Richardson's passion for lions and their future. This video will literally leave you speechless.

Introducing "Almost Home" The Web Series

Written by actress Reagan Gomez & directed by Matthew A. Cherry. "Almost Home" is about a woman named Lisa (Reagan Gomez) and her younger brother DeJuan. Lisa & Dejuan  move to L.A from Chicago after the passing of their mother. Lisa is a stylist and DeJuan is a musician. The show also features it's share of drama, including Lisa's crazy ex fiance randomly showing up in Los Angeles. Lisa and Dejuan are both forced to make changes and face their fears while ensuring that the family stays together. One of the standout elements of the show is that it features original music and unique fashion.

The show also features cameos from Jackie Long, Wesley Jonathan, & (the extremely beautiful) Denyce Lawton. The cast also includes indie musicians DeJuan Turrentine (who was featured on this site), Queen, and Ryan Hahn.

Reagan Gomez created and funded this series herself. She started an online campaign to raise money to continue filming additional episodes after she funded the first few.

"This project is so important to me. We NEED more women of color behind the scenes in Hollywood. And, if all goes well with this campaign, my ultimate goal, is to continue to use INDIE GO GO to create, original content for actors and actresses of color. A webseries now, a film later?" - Reagan Gomez

Random: A Mom's Priceless Reaction To Wrestlemania

I have NEVERRRR seen someone's mom act like this about a wrestling match, LOL! I was pretty much in tears with laughter after viewing this. This is my goddaughter's grandmom reacting to the wrestler Alberto Del Rio defeating Jack Swagger at Wrestlemania. After viewing this, I think the WWE needs to hire momma to make a cameo or something. With all that excitement and shadow boxing, she definitely deserves something.

The Harlem Shake (Kean University x Terry McFly Edition)

The latest dance craze "The Harlem Shake" has been sweeping the nation. This harlem shake is nothing like the one we all used to love back in the P.Diddy & G-Dep days. This harlem shake uses the new techno song titled "Harlem Shake" by Baauer. I've watched a few videos of the dance and became intrigued by the amount of effort and planning that goes into making one of these features successfully. Last night while on campus at Kean University, I decided to use the crowd to my advantage and finally make my Harlem Shake video. I got much more than I bargained for, the cast of students involved and the creativity was AMAZING!

Check out our very first Harlem Shake 2013 video below:

Imagine If This Flew Over Your Head!

What would you do if you were walking down the street and Superman flew over your head? Well that actually happened to a guy in real life and he got out his camera as any of us in the year 2013 would probably do. The superman that flew over his head was actually a remote controlled object shaped like Superman with a cape and all. I hope the people at DC are watching this because this definitely needs to be a promo idea for that upcoming Superman film.

My Letter to 2012

Dear 2012,

This has been a very eventful year for us. This was the very first year that I blogged full time, this website was my entry level position job and my resume. They say if you truly believe in something then you have to be willing to dedicate yourself to it entirely and that's exactly what I did... and it surely did pay off. So many lessons learned and connections made. 2012 will definitely go down as the year that I created my foundation for what's to come.  And of course none of us in the tri-state area will ever forget that serving of humble pie that was served to us by Hurricane Sandy.

2012 was a year full of firsts here at TerryMcfly.com... Back in January 2012, the first partnership with General Motors began. I took my first trip to Los Angeles this year, which was also the completion of a childhood dream to visit the E3 expo. I got my first brand endorsement in 2012 (to be announced). I became an accredited media source in 2012. Attended Knicks Media Day for the first time in 2012. Made a cameo appearance on Vh1 2 or 3 times in 2012. The list just goes on and on.... and what's even more exciting is that a lot of the deals made in 2012 will carry over into 2013.

These past weeks I've received some very exciting news in regards to my future as a blogger. I don't really want to write too much while the ink is still wet but I will encourage all of you to continue following me on this journey...I promise you won't regret it. I've been meeting with a few insiders, designers, and celebrities to help me bring these dreams to the forefront.

2013 is MY year, I am claiming it! It's been a good one, thanks for the memories!

Farewell 2012. See you soon 2013!

-Terry

Knicks Media Day 2012-13

Usually mondays are reserved for music here on TerryMcfly.com, but that all changed when I received a very interesting and unexpected invitation yesterday evening. The New York Knicks (My FAVORITE team) invited me to attend their Media Day, which signifies the official start of the team's 2012-13 NBA Pre-Season. The press conference style event took place at the Knicks training camp facility. All of the major sports media outlets were there in attendance, it was truly an honor for a young journalist like me to be amongst all the veterans. The entire group of press in attendance took turns asking questions to Knicks players and coaches.

This event really made my day, as a fan it was truly a once in a lifetime kind of experience for me. I managed to write down a few quotes from a few players and Coach Woodson so that you can get an idea of where we're headed this season. Check out the photos and quotes below, as usual it was all captured on my trusty iPhone 4S.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Photoshoot

A few days ago, I embarked on a journey across the DC area. I made it my priority to go visit the newly constructed Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. While in DC, my amazing super friend Lauren Urban (of www.DestinationPlanning.com) and her fiancee Zack Glenn (of ZSG Photography) suggested that we set up a photoshoot. I suggested that we use a location that really inspires me, thus we have the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. It was cool, this entire process was the perfect dedication to Dr.King. A young african american male and his caucasian friends together at the Dr.King memorial creating art, it doesn't get any better than that! Zack is an amazing photographer, he is now the official go-to photographer for TerryMcfly.com... we also collaborated on a "Georgetown" photoshoot. (which is posted on the Facebook page)

For the first few photos, I selected one of my favorite quotes from Dr.King as the back drop.

Hidden Gem: Top Shelf Premium Vintage

Last weekend while in Brooklyn, I decided to stop by the Dekalb Market for a quick meal. I found much more than I bargained for, I stumbled upon what I refer to as Hipster's paradise. There was so many amazing stores that appeal to the creative minded people. One store stood out to me the most during my visit, it was a small store that kinda looked like someone's bedroom at first glance.

The Day I Met Rodney King

I had the amazing opportunity to meet and speak with Rodney King today, it's the 20th year anniversary of the brutal police beatings that Rodney suffered at the hands of the LAPD which led to the infamous LA Riots. Rodney King spoke with me and other members of the Hudson Union Society about the 1991 incident and he also shared his thoughts on recent cases such as Trayvon Martin & Sean Bell.  He did not just simply refer to the 1991 incident where he was brutally beat by the LAPD, he went into full descriptive detail of what exactly happened on that night before the cameras were turned on and also after the cameras were off. It was monumental for me to hear history from the actual person that survived it. Rodney King even reenacted his exact body movements and dialog of what was being said to him as he was beaten. Rodney King spoke about the recent slaying of Trayvon Martin. Rodney said that the sound of Trayvon Martin crying out for help was the same sound of his cries as he fought for his life trying to survive in 1991.  This meeting with Rodney King was priceless. Revisiting the old stories was heart wrenching but Rodney's spirit to make something positive come from all of this  was very admirable. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet Rodney King and his wife, he was surprised when I told him that I was only 7 years old at the time of the incident. Rodney King is currently traveling around the country promoting his new memoir book "The Riot Within", make sure you check it out if you're near a book store.

Black History In The Making: Comic Books

I've been faithfully reading a few comics over the past months. My favorite has been the Ultimate Spider-man series. As some of you may know, the new Spiderman in this series is Bi-racial. It means a lot for me as the reader to be able to connect and relate to the hero I'm reading about. In honor of Black History Month, I'm going to share three of my favorite comic series that I've been reading, they all feature Black heroes. My favorite Black comic hero of the past is Marvel's Black Panther. The three modern heroes I'm going to highlight in this article are Marvel's "Ultimate Spiderman and DC Comic's "Bat Wing" & "Static Shock".

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man

This has been my favorite series from Marvel, I read every issue faithfully. I download it on my Ipad and I subscribe to it at my local comic store. This series takes place in Brooklyn, New York.

Meet Miles Morales, the NEW Ultimate Comics Spider-Man! Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Peter Parker, Miles prepares for the biggest change of his life! It’s the same high-flying adventure you’ve come to love but with a whole new Ultimate Comics Reborn twist. Power and responsibility take on a whole new meaning in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man!

Miles Morales first appears in Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4, which was published in August 2011, in which he foils a murder by Kangaroo, a short time after Peter Parker's death at the hands of the Green Goblin. He wears a red and blue Spider-Man suit similar to Peter Parker's, but considers changing it when spectators tell him it is in "bad taste".

Fashionably Random Photos #NYFW Edition

Mercedes Benz-New York Fashion Week officially came to an end a day ago. I had an amazing time and met lots of amazing people, I went to more shows that expected. I attended at least two shows on each day of NYFW. I decided to share some of the Random photos from my phone with all of you. There were some pretty bizarre experiences, I saw a baby walking around the Lincoln Center alone with his own bodyguard and a dog attended in a sweater. There's a lot of photos of me and my friends having a great time at the Lincoln Center. For photos of the shows I attended , make sure you click the FASHION tab on the right side.
