Trust Issues The Comparison

Last week, The Weeknd recorded a remix of Drake's latest single Trust Issues. The Weeknd straight annihilated this joint, his version is far superior than Drake's. I guess it all really depends on which tempo you prefer. I'll let you decide if I'm right or not, check out both songs below:

Wild in The Streets Video

Wow....and I thought it was crazy on Go Skateboarding Day in NYC, this is why I need to be in LA lol

Cops, tickets, arrests and a sea of skateboarders charging the streets of downtown Los Angeles. This is emerica’s Wild In The Streets 2011. The charge started at Hollenbeck park and continued around the public skateparks of downtown L.A.: Lafayette, Lincoln Park, and more. Andrew Reynolds, Leo Romero, and more set it off at each park. The police tried, but couldn’t stop the fun.

The Air in the Square

Last week, I randomly came across a vert ramp in the middle of Times Square, it was pretty awesome to me considering I'm a skater. Later on that day I found out there was a skateboarding competition taking place, there was these lil kids gettin some serious Air. A kid actually won the championship as well, winning against actual pros. Check out the short clip below for a brief view of what went down on that day.

The afternoon Air in the Square event featured a 25 foot high roll in ramp, two 25 foot wide gaps and a 14 foot high quarter pipe that was besieged by talented, professional skateboarders and BMX riders. Among them were Andy MacDonald, Lincoln Ueda, Mitchie Brusco, Adam Taylor, Jett Eaton, Bob Burnquist, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Elliot Sloan and Jagger Eaton.

The 411

The event, which was produced in partnership with ASA Entertainment, was meant to help herald the new partnership between Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) and Quicksilver as well as MSG's new action sports division. Let's take a brief look at who the principal players are in this new partnership.

The first principal player is The Madison Square Garden Company. The Madison Square Garden Company is an entertainment, sports and media business with MSG Entertainment, MSG Sports and MSG Media as three of their primary divisions. The MSG Action Sports division is a new subdivision of MSG Sports and FUSE TV is a subdivision of MSG Media.

The second principal player is Quicksilver. Quicksilver is an outdoor sports lifestyle company that manufactures action sports related gear, apparel and footwear. In addition to the partnership with the Madison Square Garden Company, Quicksilver also partners with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) during certain special events like the Quicksilver Pro.

The third, principal player is ASA Entertainment. ASA Entertainment is a marketing agency that produces over 200 annual action sports events and television shows. Among those events are the Action Sports World Tour, and the recent Air in the Square.

Under the burgeoning partnership, MSG and FUSE Networks will become the official U.S. telecast partners for the Quicksilver Pro to be held September 2nd through the 5th, 2011, in Long Beach, New York. The Quicksilver Pro is an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Title Race.

The Quick Silver Pro New York is expected to go down in the history books for being the first Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour stop on America's East Coast as well as for having a whopping $1 million dollar prize purse. Though the Quicksilver Pro is a surfing competition, there will be a festival associated with it that will feature live music, pro skateboarding, BMX and motocross competitions and demonstrations as well.

New Video: "I Do It" by Big Sean

Big Sean has been on just about every blog and music site this week. First he previewed his album, leaked a few songs, then last night his entire album was leaked before its June 28th release date. Today is not excluded from the talents of Big Sean, he releases the video for his single "I do It". The song received previous video treatment on the Derrick Rose Adidas AdiZero commercial. This video is pretty straight forward, it's Big Sean exhibiting what he's known for, being fresh & flashy. Enjoy!

Video Premiere: "Late Nights, Early Mornings" by Marsha Ambrosius

Here's another thought provoking music video from Marsha Ambrosius. When I first saw this, I thought it was some sort of mock of the Sims games but then at the end of the video, I realized she was sending another powerful wake up call to society. This video promotes safe sex, I'm glad Marsha is attempting to educate people through her videos. This is actually my favorite song on her album so of course the video would be posted here regardless, Enjoy!

New Music: "Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay" by Big Sean feat. Kanye West and Rosco Dash

Here's one of the highly anticipated singles from G.O.O.D music artist Big Sean. He spoke about this song last week during his listening partyt, he stated that this is one of his favorite songs on his debut album "Finally Famous", which is in stores June 28th.

Movie Trailer: Winnie The Pooh

He's Back!!! When I first saw that they were making a new Winnie the Pooh film, I was kind of upset because I thought it was gonna get the same real world treatment as the other cartoons of my childhood such as Scooby-Doo and Alvin & the Chipmunks. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Disney decided to keep it old school with this new Pooh film. It's in High Definition and its in the old animation form so the children of today can enjoy it just as we did in the past years. I miss these characters and it definitely looks like something worth going to see, check out the trailer below.

Cast: Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson, Tom Kenny, Travis Oates, Bud Luckey

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with "Winnie the Pooh," the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical "bear of very little brain" and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. "Well a tail is either there or it isn't there," said Pooh. "And yours isn't... there." Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne's books in Disney's classic, hand-drawn art style, "Winnie the Pooh" hits theaters July 15, 2011.

Video: Tupac Back by Jasmin Mans

Poet Jasmine Nicole Mans gives us her thoughts on the Tupac Back song and she has some very valid points. This is very deep and I appreciate her for making this video. Most of these young heads don't know who Tupac truly is, this video explains why Tupac is the Greatest Rapper of All Time and why he is the only rapper your grandma knows. I agree with her, the things she says in this video really opens your eyes, It is the TRUTH. Feel free to comment with your thoughts below.

Movie Review: Super 8

I was invited by Paramount Pictures to attend a screening of  Super 8 ( produced by Steven Spielberg & written/directed by J.J. Abrams) before it hits theaters this friday. I was curious to know what this film was about because the trailers are very confusing. I will try to keep this review as spoiler free as possible. The film is basically about a boy and his friends with their Super 8 camera, it reminded me of a modern day sci-fi version of the "Sandlot". The cinematics in this film are simply amazing. The moment you see the disaster, you will know that you're watching a Steven Spielberg film because the visuals are astonishing. The film features alot of dry humor that only nerds will enjoy, but there are a few laughs here and there for the regular folks. The cast was pretty good as well.

Now on to where the movie lacks, the story was pretty lame. Its like riding a rollercoaster, you hit all the hills and loops and then the ride dies out and you're bored. Overall, I would say wait for this one to hit Netflix or On Demand. It's a decent film but nothing worth rushing to see, I rate this film a 3 out of 5 stars and that's only because the special effects and cast was on point. I thank Paramount Pictures for inviting me, I had a great time.

New Music:"Stand, You're Gonna Run Again" by Lenny Kravitz

We finally get a track from Lenny Kravitz's latest album which is due in August, the album is titled "Black & White America". It's his first album since 2008 and its also his first album on the new label. I'm glad Lenny is releasing music, I've started playing guitar more often and I could use this musical inspiration.

New Artist Spotlight: Gabrielle Findley

Last weekend, while at the SWC showcase in Newark,NJ... I had the honor of meeting a talented singer by the name of Gabrielle Findley, I was simply amazed by her stage presence and bubbling personality. She's this month's new artist that you should know, read about who she is and also check out her debut single below titled "Can I Live".

Gabrielle Monay Findley was born in Belville, NJ and lived in Maplewood, NJ. She has been singing ever since she honestly can remember and always loved performing for her peers and family. Having been inspired by watching various artists on TV, she knew that singing was what she wanted to do in life. In her own words, her first career choice she expressed to her mother was "mommy I want to be famous ", and ever since then, all she could see herself doing was standing in front of a large audience and entertaining them. While attending middle school, she became very emotional as she cried at the podium upon winning the "Maplewood Middle School 8th Grade Grammys".Some may find it humorous that the award still sits on top of her dresser as an inspiration to win a real Grammy some day.

Presently at this stage of her life, she has become more productive in writing and singing; having found her creative niche in Lab Records. She writes all of her songs as the white and black keys help her create the lyrics that she hopes would connect to her future fans. She relates to music as if it is a person, because music, inspires, heals and builds. Her musicality has graduated to one she hopes will blow people away as she integrates pieces of every genre. Currently attending Montclair State University, she has her mind focused on school, and heart heavily set on music. She has had the pleasure of performing with other artists like (Chris Akinyemi, TySu, and Chris Shaw at Harvard, Columbia University and various New York Spots. From singing the Barney and Disney theme songs to screaming out songs of icons like Beyonce, Randy Newman and Lady Gaga... Gabrielle Monay Findley is a voice to be heard. She believes in her music and the power of music. She depicts a young lady in this generation with creativity and drive. In one word, she is "unique" in her own way and a voice for ears to be tuned in.

Unofficial Video: "The Morning" by The Weeknd

The unofficial videos for the Weeknd's mixtape are still steadily rollin out, people must really love this mixtape. I aint mad at em, I support the movement because The Weeknd is one of my new favorite artists. Here's a video for "The Morning" track from the "House of Balloons" mixtape. This video was created by High Five Collective. It's actually a pretty good video, it would've probly been even cooler if it was done in the trademark black & white.

New Music: "Perfect is the Word" by Kid Cudi

Here's the first track from Kid Cudi's upcoming "2 Be Continuum" project, this is a rock genre album. I think its very interesting because Cudi already lives a rocker's lifestyle, he even has the mannerisms and wardrobe. I don't really have any thoughts on this song to share yet but maybe it'll grow on me, check it out below. The song was released by Cudi himself via twitter.

New Music: "Best Thing I Never Had" by Beyonce

Here's the second single from Beyonce's upcoming album, which is in stores on June 28th. Personally, I'm glad she released a new single because the other one was awful lol.
