Rockstar Games Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Event Recap

Rockstar Games invited me to be a special guest at their Max Payne 3 Multiplayer session, which took place live on the rooftop of their NYC offices. In true Rockstar fashion , the invitation was extremely limited. There was only about 5 special guests and the rest in attendance was Rockstar staff. Rockstar supplied us with tons of food and beverages, what a great way to end the summer with a rooftop gaming BBQ. I enjoyed playing Max Payne 3 online with Max Payne fans from all over the world and the skilled Rockstar game developers.

New Video: "Bye Baby" By Nas

Nas releases the video for my favorite song on his "Life Is Good" album. The track "Bye Baby" samples the classic "Goodbye Love" song by the new jack swing group GUY. This track is probably one of the most heartfelt songs on Nas' album so the video definitely had to be just as powerful. Check it out as Nas reenacts a little bit of what he experienced during his troubled marriage.

Book of The Week: Jody Duncan Jesser & Janine Pourroy's "The Art and Making of the Dark Knight Trilogy"

Not just for film buffs or comic book aficionados “The Art and Making of the Dark Knight Trilogy” is a crisp and vibrant behind the scenes look at the telling of Christopher Nolan's interpretation of the classic tale of Batman. The images shown on the glossy pages will appeal to anyone remotely interested in the saga. And the thoughtful attention to detail show how Nolan and his staff created character driven scenes not only through the stunning  previously unreleased photography but through comprehensive explanation of concept as well.

It may be visually striking but this is a far cry from an overpriced picture book for one’s coffee table. It truly explains the process of executing not only the director’s vision but that of everyone involved. From the casting to the construction of intricate sets to the designing of a fresh yet functional Bat mobile, each challenge reveals just how much time, energy, and resources went into producing such well received and widely respected films.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Photoshoot

A few days ago, I embarked on a journey across the DC area. I made it my priority to go visit the newly constructed Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. While in DC, my amazing super friend Lauren Urban (of www.DestinationPlanning.com) and her fiancee Zack Glenn (of ZSG Photography) suggested that we set up a photoshoot. I suggested that we use a location that really inspires me, thus we have the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. It was cool, this entire process was the perfect dedication to Dr.King. A young african american male and his caucasian friends together at the Dr.King memorial creating art, it doesn't get any better than that! Zack is an amazing photographer, he is now the official go-to photographer for TerryMcfly.com... we also collaborated on a "Georgetown" photoshoot. (which is posted on the Facebook page)

For the first few photos, I selected one of my favorite quotes from Dr.King as the back drop.

The Costume Institute Presents “Impossible Conversations”

Aptly titled impossible conversations this year’s offering from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is a study of the similarities between the works of famed Italian designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. Garments and accessories from each designer are showcased in relation to the work of the other. In “Waist Up/ Waist Down” for example Prada’s affinity for skirts and shoes are showcased while Schiaparelli’s focuses on jackets and hats due to the restrictions of the time period in which she designed.

Book of the Week: Victor Cruz's "Out of the Blue"

Expelled from college twice for academic reasons unlikely NFL star Victor recounts his journey to salsa dance fame in "Out of the blue”.  Cruz shares his personal experiences from living above a bodega and Tae kwon do studio in Patterson, New Jersey to playing in the 2012 Super Bowl game, and Peter Schrager assists him in constructing them into a narrative that is both believable and interesting.

Surprisingly this autobiography is delightfully lacking in self-indulgence as Cruz does not blame his humble upbringing for the many mistakes he made throughout his journey. The New York Giants wide receiver details his tales of misguided arrogance and academic strife without excuses.  He acknowledges his dissents into the many pitfalls for a student athlete with an earnestness that is refreshing.

While Cruz does speak actively of his own determination to avoid succumbing to defeat he does not fail to shed light on the community that thrust him into success. His family, friends, mentors, and the various roles they played in his life are all highlighted. And the charming story of how he met and fell in love with, his longtime girlfriend and the mother of his only child, Elaina Watley is relayed with a hilarious lack of shame (Cruz admits Watley’s resemblance to model Kimora Lee Simmons played a huge role in his attraction to her).

Music Monday: "Enough Said" By Aaliyah Feat. Drake

Drake has released a track from the upcoming post-humous Aliyah album that he will be producing. This song sounds like a Drake song with Aaliyah vocals, which is pretty much exactly what it is right? I really like this song a lot, sounds pretty good... but I'm not sure if I like listening to new Aaliyah music without the input of Timbaland & Missy Elliot. Check out this new track and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
