New Video: "Arch & Point" By Miguel

After releasing the free EP Art Dealer Chic Vol.2 a few days ago, Miguel released the first video from the project, titled "Arch & Point". I really like the art direction of this video, it seems like he's trying to channel Prince in this one. When I interviewed him a year ago, he did state that Prince was one of his influences.

Fear Kills. Love Heals.

On Sunday, March 25, 2012 more than a dozen musicians, singers, TV personalities and actors came together for a session at Hollywood's Henson recording studios in honor of Trayvon Martin.

Chaka Khan and Boris Kodjoe got their friends together to celebrate Trayvon Martin's life and to remind people that we all have the right to live without fear but with love. Our similarities as people outweigh our differences. Let's use our collective voice to effect positive change.

Million Hoodies March For Trayvon Martin (Photos)

On March 21, 2012 (yesterday), Thousands of New Yorkers occupied Union Square in honor of Trayvon Martin, the rally was held to show solidarity for Trayvon's family and show them that we as a people will fight alongside them until Justice is rightfully served. The rally started with words from Trayvon's mother and father, The most memorable quote being from Trayvon's mother "This is not a black & white thing, it's a right and wrong thing!"What started as a standing protest became mobile, as the crowd swarmed the streets chanting "I AM TRAYVON MARTIN!" and "No Justice, No Peace". It was pretty surreal to be apart of such a movement, I couldn't believe what I was apart of. There was people of every race walking arm & arm, the entire area was shut down. Imagine the million man march in the streets of New York during rush hour. I've always wanted to be apart of a major civil rally, its just sad that someone's child had to die in order for it to happen. Make sure you sign the petition for Trayvon Martin at Change.org, you may not be able to march but you can still make a difference.

New Video: "Blue Jeans" By Lana Del Rey

"Radio Song" By Esperanza Spalding

"This song speaks to an experience we've all had at one time or another: when for whatever reason, you turn on the radio and a fragment of a song just grabs you, everything in the world seems to stop, and you sit mesmerized and uplifted by the music. That moment of "being touched" from the radio is a testament to the power of song, and it's at that magical moment when an artist - even someone we know nothing about - truly connects with their equally unknown listener."

Movie Review: 21 Jump Street

The remake of "21 Jump Street" was completely different than the classic tv show. This movie is more of an extremely graphic comedy. I loved the movie, very entertaining, I laughed from beginning to end. Although the movie was entertaining, at some point you start to feel like its a bit too much, way over the top. It's like an overflowing cup of water, they just give you way too much. A few of the former stars of the old 21 Jump Street series make cameos in the film, there's also a few new young stars making their acting debut. "21 Jump Street" is worth going to see, you will not be disappointed that you spent your money, there are tons of LOL and OMG moments. 21 Jump Street is Terry McFly Approved!

Feature: Styled By June

March 19th @ 9:30/8:30C is the premiere of a VH1 show starring my favorite celebrity stylist June Ambrose. I first met June Ambrose during New York Fashion Week last year. I saw her in the audience of a lot of the shows that I attended and that's what prompted me to say hello to her. I was amazed by her humble and charismatic personality, this woman styles some of the most amazing celebrities and yet she shows a normal guy like me so much love. Early last year was my first time attending NYFW. I noticed that June would wear a different outfit to every show, even shows on the same day separated by mere hours. I respectfully asked June if I could take her photo the few times I saw her, but she changed her outfit so much that it became sort of like a fashion week hobby for me to capture her look of the day for my fashion week coverage. June even challenged me a few times, she told me during the ARISE show of 2011 that she wants to see just how good of a photographer I am. She said "I'm not going to stop this time, I want to see your skills...let's see if you can catch a photo of me at this show and by the way I'm leaving early". Sadly I didnt capture the photo lol, I guess I'm not a good paparazzi . During F/W 2012 NYFW, June caught me off guard when she snatched my camera phone and snapped a photo of us together, I thought that was hilarious. It really showed how much of a down to earth person she really is.  Along with the tv show trailer below, I posted some of the photos I captured of June during Fashion Week from 2011 and early 2012.

New Video: "You Make Me Smile" By Aloe Blacc

Here's a new video from the "How To Make It In America" theme song artist Aloe Blacc. It's fitting that this song is titled "You Make Me Smile" because the video will definitely make you smile, its refreshing to see that we still have some musicians carrying the  classic soul music torch in 2012. If you like this track, it can be found on his debut album "Good Things".

Movie Review: Project X

This movie was the epitome of EPIC! I did not know what to expect when I went to see this movie because the trailers were so vague. Project X is entertaining from beginning to end. It's sort of like what the Hangover movie would be if we actually saw what they did before the Hangover. Project X was shot in the same form as the Paranormal Activity films and the movie Chronicle, from a first person perspective. You see the entire film as if you are actually at the party. The movie is about teenagers but this is not a movie that you want to takes the kids to see. I saw a group of little kids in the theater and I'm sure it was like a giant playboy magazine to their young eyes. I don't really want to give away too many details about the movie because I want you to see it and enjoy it the way I did when I first saw it. This movie is INSANE, you will laugh and gasp the entire time. It really is EPIC! Project X is Terry McFly Approved!

Here's video footage of BET's Rip The Runway 2012 Red Carpet courtesy of NecoleBitchie.com.

"Rock, Paper, Scissors" By Melanie Fiona

Here's an exclusive track from Melanie Fiona, this track is featured on her upcoming album The MF Life, which is available on March 20th.

BET Rip The Runway 2012

BET's annual fashion show Rip The Runway was taped last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. It was a great event filled with some of the music & fashion industry's elite. There were performances by Wale, Estelle, B.O.B, Diggy Simmons, Meek Mills, Robin Thicke, and Lil Kim. The performance of the night was definitely Lil Kim, who performed her greatest hits in the classic Lil Kim form that we all fell in love with back in the 90s. Another highlight of the evening that you won't see on television (besides Lil Kim dropping the F bomb) was the hilarious antics of Robin Thicke. Robin Thicke started his performance with a song that wasn't his own and prompted the entire production team and hosts to start all over, it was hilarious. His response to all of this was "You Gone learn today, Alright Alright Alriiiighttt"... imagine Robin Thicke saying that, it was a priceless and hilarious moment. This was my second year attending Rip The Runway, last year I was part of the production team and this year I was just a spectator. It feels good becoming a veteran at fashion events, kinda surreal at times to see my friends on stage entertaining the world with their great talents. BET's Rip The Runway airs on March 21st @ 10p/9c. It's a show that you don't want to miss!
