2013 Cadillac XTS Preview Event

The amazing team at General Motors invited me to check out their brand new 2013 Cadillac XTS. The event took place at the Classic Car Club in New York City and as usual it was done with pure elegance and style. There was great food being served (some of the best food I've ever had at an event), a complete open bar, and rides around the city in the new luxury sedan.

The inside of the new Cadillac XTS was so cool. The dashboard was completely digital, similar to an iPad, you could even change the the look of the dashboard and drag a few items from the center console over to the the dash. I was completely blown away when I used the car's voice command feature, it works similar to Siri on the iPhone. The entire experience was like something out of the movies about the future we used to watch as children. This is the type of technology we should be seeing in the year 2013!

The main standout feature of the brand new 2013 Cadillac was the CUE feature.

Cadillac CUE is standard on all models. It is the highly customizable user interface that exemplifies XTS’s blend of advanced technology and artistic design. The heart of CUE, which stands for Cadillac User Experience, is the standard eight-inch (203 mm) screen in the center stack, the faceplate below the screen and the steering wheel controls. CUE features several industry firsts, including capacitive-touch control with proximity sensing, haptic feedback, gesture recognition and natural voice recognition. Capacitive touch is the technology featured on many of the best tablets and smartphones.

Available exclusively on the XTS is a 12.3-inch (312 mm) reconfigurable instrument cluster. It features vibrant graphic displays showcased among four driver-selectable themes, ranging from minimal to extensive information. And while it is the prominent element in the XTS’s technological character, CUE is part of a more comprehensive and layered approach to the car’s design, capabilities and performance.

As part of the customer experience, each 2013 Cadillac XTS buyer will receive an iPad with their new car. A new CUE iPad Application, which replicates the center screen that is the hub of the system, was used to familiarize dealers with the experience, as well as provide videos and information. This App was opened to the public via the App Store when the XTS went on sale in May 2012.

I can't wait to take the Cadillac XTS out for a test drive so that I can really give it the Terry McFly test. I'm definitely interested in testing out that 14-speaker surround sound Bose system that comes with the premium models.  Is the 2013 Cadillac XTS "Terry McFly Approved"? ....To Be Continued
